Stuffocation

In a book entitled ‘Stuffocation’ Author James Wallman shares his journey on how he went from riches to rags, and how it led to his ultimate happiness. Wallman discusses the issue of consumerism and claims that materialism is one of the most pressing concerns for the 21st century making us depressed in ownership. He argues that instead of spending our time and money buying things, we should be creating or partaking in experiences. “Experientialism” is more likely to lead to happiness; it brings us closer to ourselves as well as others.

Dublin

If you have a weekend or a couple of days free and no immediate plans, go to Dublin. It's a fantastic city of Irish heritage, traditional folk music and plenty of beer! I took my boyfriend as a 21st birthday present, we went for four days and three nights which we found the perfect amount of time to do everything! I booked the flights with Ryanair for £9.99 and £7.99 return which is a cinema ticket... so even if you're on a budget there are no excuses not to go!

The Retail-Technology Industry

"Extraordinary Experiences, Extraordinary Technology"
I’ve had to compile a lot of research recently on Experience Design and Production companies in the UK. You may have never heard of this, which is fine, but take note as they are revolutionising the way we shop. UK Company Inition is a prime example of a successfully established company who works with emerging technologies to create immersive Instore installations and experiences.

If there is one place to truly get an otherworldly experience it’s the Harry Potter Studios in London. An exciting and long anticipated Christmas gift from the other half, we ventured down on Tuesday 27th to go and see the making of one of the most successful fantasy franchises ever made.

London: Victoria Beckham's New Store

I kept to my word and did in fact visit London again for a university trip! One of our stops that day was to the newly opened Victoria Beckham store opposite Dover Street Market. The 2014 opening saw a three floored monumental boutique exude the designer’s minimalist essence through its streamlined construction and sculptural features, completely portraying its designer in all her stylish glory.

London September 2014

During the last week of the Summer I took a trip down to the capital to partake in some cultural activities with my Londoner friend acting as a tour guide. I wanted to visit the markets and vintage shops around Shoreditch and Camden to gain inspiration for my original dissertation idea that focused on the thrift experience.
